MISC: Verity has one tattoo on her lower back, the Tibetan eternal knot. She got the tattoo just after college. She had made plans with her boyfriend at the time to travel the world after graduation. They were going to backpack across Europe and through the Pacific Islands. Her mother was hospitalized two weeks before they were supposed to leave. She passed away eight days later and Verity couldn’t bring herself to go when it was time to leave. She expected him to wait for her, or at the very least to come back for her, but he went without her. She got one phone call three months later, but that was it. She hasn’t heard from him since, but she’s become a professional when it comes to stuffing unresolved emotions down.
PERSONALITY: For the most part, Verity is a kind soul. She was your typical sorority girl in college. In college, she was a bit of a party girl. She enjoyed the academic side of things, but excelled at the social side of things. She held the kegstand record for two years straight at her sorority house. She dated the president of the largest fraternity on campus, until he disappeared and broke her heart. Those few months after college were trying. They put a lot of pressure on her poor sanity, but she came out stronger than ever. She suffered two great losses in those months: the loss of her mother to a cancer they didn’t even know was there and the loss of the love of her life on his own accord. Since then, she’s bottled things up and perfected the art of being Martha Stewart. She enjoys crafting, baking, and life hacks. She can MacGyver any household chemical or cooking vinegar into an instant stain-removing concoction.
As a third grade teacher, Verity is organized and incredibly caring. She can be soft spoken when you first meet her, but do not mistake that for weakness. There are no greater terrors than seven year olds running wild in a classroom. Verity can hold her own. She appreciates life and all living things, but she sometimes has a warped sense of how her life should be. She hasn’t had a serious relationship since her ex ran off without her. However, she has this incredible desire to be married, to have kids, to raise them in a yard with plants she has to water. She would never admit it, but she sees families with parents that are her age around town and she resents them greatly.
SECRET(S): A few weeks after he ex left for Europe, the day of her mother’s wake to be exact, Verity found out that she was pregnant. She’s only ever told her one friend. She got rid of the baby not long after. She had no idea where her ex was or if she was ever going to see him again. She had just lost her mother. There was no way she could have raised a child. Now, it’s what she wants more than anything and she regrets her decision more than anything else.♦ THE HISTORY ♦
Verity was born and raised in Glenhaven. She grew up with two loving parents, one sister, and one brother. She was the youngest. Everyone swore Verity was going to grow up to be a veterinarian, but when it came time to decide: Verity decided she wanted to be a teacher. Verity attended the University of Arizona where she was a distinguished Phi. Verity did well in high school, but college was where she shined. She started dating the love of her life in the middle of her sophomore year. They had the occasional brief break, but they always found each other again. After college, Verity and her beau planned on backpacking across the world. They had all of their adventures planned out. They would work on eco-farms to earn some funds, but they would live.
Verity couldn’t bring herself to leave for the trip. She wasn’t ready. She hoped he would have waited for her, but he didn’t. She got one phone call from him three months after he left, but she hasn’t heard from him since then.
It was never her plan to move back to Glenhaven after college, but Verity couldn’t leave her family in such a difficult time. She moved back home, or near home, and got a job teaching at a local charter school. For the past couple of years, Verity has been moving through the motions of life and avoiding dealing with an unresolved anger and pain.♦ THE PLAYER ♦
