They think that I can’t hear them. But I do.
I hear every single word they say when they think they can’t hear me,every half muttered jab under their breath. Every snide remark. Every scornful glare I feel crawling on my back like insects. I’ve been feeling them all my life. Ever since I was born people have looked at me….different. With. Envy. With hate. With rolled eyes and bemused looks dismissing me as someone they DON’T want to know..One word following me around everywhere I go.

And why do they think that? Because I grew up with a privileged background? Things come far more easy to me? Because I have standards? Because I’m not weak enough to rely on others? Because I’m not afraid to speak my mind? Because I know for a fact what so many people, These are my crimes? This gives people the right to look down on me? To JUDGE me.
No.
They don’t get that privilege, they haven’t earned the RIGHT to look down on me. Just because they’re so insecure of their own lives. That doesn’t give them the right to make me their own personal boogeyman.
They think they know me. But they don’t. They really don’t.
The think they know pressure? They think they know stress. They have no earthly idea what stress is, What pressure is. My father has bee applying it since the day I was born...because he knew more than anything that diamonds come from immense crushing pressure...First thing he taught me. Emotion and being coddled doesn’t prepare you for the cold hard reality that the world isn’t going to hold you hand and hold you close when things are hard. No, it’s a cold place and the only way to survive to be harder than the world can handle...So maybe I’ve been given a head start. Excuse me for being self-aware enough to know. That and excuse me for my choice on how I choose to relax?
