The interviewer sat by the desk, looking at the young woman, Riley Harper, standing roughly 5'5 feet above ground with her brown eyes and her light brown hair. There was a certain kind of scrutiny with the way Riley was looked at. "You graduated from Juilliard, yes?"
Nodding, Riley offered the interviewer a polite smile. "Yes, ma'am," she replied. "I've been taking music and acting classes since I was a little girl. Apparently, Juilliard had been watching my growth as I grew up." She figured that was more than likely because of who her parents were, though, it seemed to Riley that the interviewer was thinking the exact same thing.
"Being the daughter of two famous parents must have been hard on you growing up," the interviewer continued, barely looking up from her notes.
"I wouldn't call it hard," Riley countered. "But it took a lot of work, seeing as how my parents were in the spotlight a lot. That, naturally, meant that I was too." Growing up in the spotlight meant that she didn't know anything else. At least not until she had finished high school and left for college in New York. "My mother has worked very hard to get where she is. She too, graduated from Juilliard and my father, well, being a talkshow host and a self proclaimed fitness guru sure takes up a lot of free time." They both laughed.
"After getting your degree in acting, you continued on to take the two year fellowship of the Playwrights Program, correct? Why did you make that choice?"
Smiling, Riley folded her hands together. "Well, I wanted to understand both sides, both from the acting aspect and the written one. I also showed interest within the Writing & Communication Center field, but that was more out of curiosity than anything else."
The interviewer noted a few more things down before nodding. "And what is it that you do now, Miss Harper?"
Riley hated this question. The way they tried prying into her life. Still, she kept her polite smile plastered on her lips. "Right now," she started, her voice clear. "I'm still unpacking my things." She had only recently - well, recently being the past couple of months, moved back to Glenhaven. "And," she continued. "I'm still very much focused on my blog."
"Ah yes, your blog... Wouldn't it be better to focus on something real like, let's say, acting? I mean, you've spent so many years working your way--"
Holding up her hand, Riley tilted her head. "Whether or not it's better isn't your decision to make, ma'am. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a new entry I need to write about this incredibly condescending interviewer I met..."♦ THE PLAYER ♦
