This is not a normal interrogation. I'm going to sit down with you. We're going to talk. I will give you one opportunity to lie to me. When you do, I will tell you - calmly - that I know you are lying to me. You will have the chance to tell the truth. If you lie to me again, I will get up, and I will leave, and that will be it. Do you understand me?

I'm not strict. A job must be done and someone has to do so willingly. I devoted years of my life to the country I'm not even from. I stood in lines and saluted and marched. Fought - military, straight out of high school. Lost quite a bit; many of which I can never get back. But it's not just the people who fall in wars that make you crumble to pieces. They aren't the only things to wear.

I like the stars. Staring at the shining lights is impossible in the city; every inch carries an almost… Sickly glow about it. The city is always noisy. No peace. No solitude. Someone is always doing something wrong. Someone is always up to no good. Even on the days off, there's always something to be done. There's no room to breathe.

I can't sleep. I always wake up in the middle of the night. Usually a little past three. It's always the same dream.

I would say that a temper is relative. It always looks worse when you can do something about it than when you can't. You could be the angriest women in the world, but because you don't have the expertise to slam a face into the bar, you don't. I do.

I won't take a bribe. But I like it when you try. It's not just a game for you, y’know.

The glove box isn't full of skittles, the middle console is.

Weaving through traffic on a bike is a lot more exhilarating than trying to dodge traffic in a squad car. Sure, there's a greater fear for your own safety. But when you've been through the wars - and I mean that literally, mind you - you learn not to fear death so much.

Six in the morning. Every morning. Even on weekends. Even when hungover. I don't care what you think your excuse is; you're always better when you start the day right. Mess it up, and your entire day is shot to hell. It's not superstitious if it's true.

I don't share my bed with strangers, if that's what you're implying. But he had a pretty face. So did she.

It's no secret that our streets are corrupt. Absolutely. In our ranks? It's the same thing. Half the people in here are probably as crooked as they come. And really, it would be so easy to give in. For me? I've never had the desire to. I haven't met a soul who's got enough to give.
