PERSONALITY: The best way to describe Gwen would be... helpless. A horrible start in life has deeply affected her. She is frail, terified of the world around her. She struggles with day to day life, finding even the most simple tasks, such as going to the shop, terrifying. Gwen doesn't rust easily, only but a few have it, but it's easy to loose her trust. She is incredibly shy. Gwen also suffers from severe OCD, the idea of change, or someone touching her well organised things can send the girl into a panic attack. She fears change and going to new places. Gwen has various coping techniques, such as zoning out and hiding away when things get to much.
SECRET(S): she tends to hide her past and the fact that she is a foster child♦ THE HISTORY ♦
Childhood. Such a thing doesn't exist in Gwens world. Her mother, a wicked woman, her father, sinister and horrid, raised her while constantly drunk. They were evil, beating her if she did the littlest wrong, or even if they felt like it. Though they had a spare bedroom, she was forced to sleep in the cupboard under the stairs. Her cupboard became her safe haven, everything in its place. You see, Gwen was born with rather bad OCD, which often meant she was moving things around, straightening things she wasn't supposed to touch, which would gain her harsh punishments. Though the beatings and cruel names were tough, they were nothing compared to sexual abuse she was forced to endure. The first time is branded vividly in her mind. She was 4. Her dad came into her room one night, held her down... And well, you can guess the rest. Her mother acted like nothing was happening, and if Gwen dared cry she would gain a few bruises.
Finally the neighbors called child services when they had grown much to suspicious of the muffled cries at night. Child services and the police swooped in, to find her mother and father passed out surrounded by bottles, and little Gwen, aged 7, cowering in her cupboard. She was terrified of the strange people on her house telling her they had come to take her away. Though her home was scary, she knew what to expect... She didn't know what was going to happen to her outside her cupboard. She screamed and fought, until they finally managed to get her out the door and into the car, clothed in nothing but her threadbare, stained pajamas.
The next year in the children's home was filled with intense therapy, a strict diet and gentle coaxing. It was many months before she would come out of her room with out being dragged, and another before she would talk to the staff, even if it wasn't to anyone but a select few.
It was decided that Gwen would benefit if she was placed in a foster home so she could know what a stable home was like. Angel Cooper and her husband Darren were called in to meet Gwen, as the couple were know to deal with problem cases. They were patient and gentle with Gwen, earned her trust and were understanding to her needs. By the time she was 8 and a half years old, she moved in with Angel and Darren.
She thrived under the watch, becoming more confident around those she knew. Though she was still nervous around new people and was still plauged with nightmares, she was doing much better. Her foster parents made sure she went to therapy daily. She was loved and cared for, and Gwen started calling herself Gwen Cooper. The couple decided to adopt Gwen and make her official their daughter. Though this was a big change for Gwen, once she had gotten over her initial fear, she was happy with her new name and family. The next few years were kind to the girl, and she grew, with the help of love and therapy, into a beautiful young woman.
Gwen and her now adoptive mother were talking one day and the topic of Gwen moving out in the future cropped up. The idea sent Gwen into a panic attack, though she was easily consoled by Angel, and over the next few weeks, the small family talked, until Gwen finally came round and agreed to move into a little condo not 10 minutes away from her home. A date was set for her to move, with her adoptive parents paying for the condo, and a plan in which her parents would come over every other dya to check she was doing OK.
The big move was terrify, Gwen managed, and a few months later she was quiet settled, and had gotten a job at the local library, a job which was quiet, and easy for her to handle. She also found out that she had a baby brother, Jared in the care system. Her parents decided they would adopt her younger brother.♦ THE PLAYER ♦
