AGE: twenty-seven.
GENDER: female.
ORIENTATION: heterosexual.
POSITION: bookstore owner // freelance writer.♦ THE CHARACTER ♦
HEIGHT: 5 feet.
HAIR COLOR: blond roots // sometimes dyes it brown or red.
EYE COLOR: blue grey.
MISC: tattoo on her inner left wrist, a small inscription "be the change" // always wears two identical necklaces, both with infinity pendants, one was her twin sister's.
PERSONALITY: Tori, or TJ, has always been described by people as QUIET and RESERVED. She is only CLOSE TO A FEW people, and she is particularly choosy about who she lets into her life, or who finds out about personal details of her life. She TRIES TO BE OUTGOING as best she can, but many would immediately see that she is an INTROVERT. She acts friendly, but really wants nothing more than to spend time on her own. She is as GENEROUS as they come when she's known you for a long time and has proven your loyalty and your honesty towards her. She DOESN'T LIKE CONFRONTATIONS, and avoids them as much as she can.
She is also quite VULNERABLE when she falls in love with someone, or starts to care for someone. She is very TRUSTING but is doing her best to reverse this so whenever she starts becoming too close to someone new, or she realizes she's beginning to realize that she's trusting them too much, she tends to DETACH to avoid getting hurt in the future. Yes, she's quite a PESSIMIST when it comes to people. This is such an irony because she actually likes hanging out with her friends, and also SEEKS AFFECTION, though her pessimism sometimes gets in the way of this.
SECRET(S): not really a secret, but something she doesn't share with just anyone: she had a twin sister who died when they were 17. She became a suspect in the investigation, but was later on cleared when the death was ruled as an accident.♦ THE HISTORY ♦
Torrence Jean Paige and Valerie Jade Paige were born in New York on April 7, born to Atty. Robert Paige and Dr. Janine Paige. All their life, they lived in Manhattan. They were the best of friends, as twins are usually expected to be. They did everything together and even dressed the same most of the time, although Tori was more into reading, while Val was more into performance arts. Sometimes, they would create skits, Tori writing the script and Val being the lead, and perform them at family occasions.
At the age of 13, Tori and Val became less close than they were as children. Tori went into writing workshops, book launches and book clubs. Val went into dancing and acting classes, recitals and auditions. They would try to get together as often as they could. Val tried to read the books that Tori was into, Tori went to Val's performances. But they just had less time for each other. Eventually, Tori became closer to their younger brother, Ben, who was 3 years younger. He was also into books, into writing, and into music. By the time Tori and Val were 15, they were mostly living separate lives.
At 16, Tori had a boyfriend. His name was Jeremy, and he was an athlete as well as a book nerd like Tori. Val gradually got jealous. She'd been eyeing Jeremy for a long time now, and she was also jealous of the fact that Tori now had someone else to spend time with, which meant there really would be no Tori-Val time anymore.
Tori and Jeremy's relationship grew strong. They were both into the same books, and Jeremy wanted to get into a journalism program for college so they both spent a lot of time working on their writing. On their 17th birthday, Val and Tori got into a fight. Val wanted to celebrate it with family only, but Tori had brought Jeremy along. Val walked out of the dinner and didn't talk to Tori for a long time since then.
Two months after their 17th birthday, Tori was alone at home working on an essay for school. Her parents had gone to a PTA meeting at Ben's school, Ben was out rehearsing with his band, and Val was at a dance rehearsal. At 6:30pm, Val came home to find Tori in the living room. She was quite drunk because she'd come from a friend's house where they drank her friend's parents' stash of beer. Dance rehearsal had finished early, so they'd decided to unwind with a few bottles. Upon seeing Tori, Val's feelings came out again and they began arguing about everything: lack of time, falling out, Jeremy, Ben, where they'd go to college. Val was just trying to engage Tori in a fight, but Tori didn't want to so she got up and meant to go to her room, but then Val ran past her, up the stairs and through their balcony, threatening Tori that she'd jump if she didn't talk to her. She was sick of being the odd one out in the family. She was jealous of Tori and Ben, Tori and Jeremy. She wanted them to be friends again. Tori ran after her and found her, one leg over the railing already. Tori pleaded with her to come inside, but Val was still going on about how she missed their times together. Tori promised to spend more time with her as long as she came back inside. Val was convinced, and was about to swing her leg back into the balcony when she lost her balance and fell, headfirst, on to their concrete walkway, 2 storeys below. They tried to revive her, but to no avail. Tori became the prime suspect, since she was the only one in the house with Val, but she was eventually cleared.
This traumatized Tori, so when she was old enough, she accessed her trust fund and moved to California. She studied at University of Southern California, worked at a newspaper and a bookstore there for a year, then moved to Glenhaven to open her own bookshop, Books in Nooks. She also does freelance writing.
She would still see her parents or her brother when they came to California, but she never once went back to New York again.♦ THE PLAYER ♦
