It was a typical Friday night for Mr Jack Mccarthy, or really typical night for anyone with his kind of affection, like with anyone who's had something of a troubling way, they have a need to try as they might feel a large gaping hole in their hearts with whatever they get their hands on. Some tried to do so with their passions, in their writings, in the pursuit of helping others…
….And some like Jack filled it with cheap booze and drugs
If you were to ask Jack where he was right now, he really didn’t have the ability to focus on his cognitive thinking operative, hell with the combination of hard liquor and drugs bubbling merrily through his veins and melting his brain into a puddle he probably couldn’t remember his last name at this point and his first name was not far behind, for all he knew he was laying in the middle of a cloud
….Instead of leaning against the shabby brick wall of an LA gutter head and body slumped over

Tori sighed with relief as finally, finally, she finished in the shop.
"Time to close her up", she muttered to herself, grabbing her purse from her back office and turning off the lights as she walked from the office to the front door. She was tired and sleepy. All she wanted right now was to shower, change into night clothes, and drink a bottle of beer while maybe binge-watching some long-forgotten TV series she'd had stored in her hard drive for months.
She looked around the shop one last time before she shut the door behind her and locked it. She put her keys in her purse and turned to the direction of her apartment. It wasn't that far from the shop so she never really bothered to buy a car. She knew she'd never use it often, anyway.
She turned to a corner and passed by a dark alley, when from her peripheral vision she sensed a figure slumped against the wall. At first, she thought it was a garbage bag from one of the establishments around the area. But upon closer inspection, she was horrified to realize that it was some guy. She immediately rushed to his side and started shaking him to wake him up.
"Hey! Hey, are you okay? Hello?", she asked frantically. She looked around to see if there were other people around, but the street appeared to be deserted. She turned to the guy again and continued shaking him.
